RHI Big Man Camp

August 2 & 3, 2010 /// Lagos, Nigeria

RHI Big Man Camp is an event that RHI started 7 years ago in Nigeria to teach young African Big Men (6’8” tall and above) the fundamentals of the game of basketball. It’s an instructional camp for high school kids ages 13 to 18 years old. The kids come from all over Nigeria as well as some neighboring countries like Cameroon, Niger Republic, Chad and Ghana. Most Big Men in Africa lack the basic fundamentals of the game. Unlike in most western basketball nations where kids start playing the game at a very young age, developing skills through training, many of the African Big Men only pick up the game because they are tall . The RHI Big Man Camp has discovered and given opportunities to a lot of kids from Africa that are either in college at present or attending various high schools or prep schools in the United States. The first set of kids that RHI helped place in high schools in the U.S. in 2004 have now graduated from college.
